General Information

The Georgia Department of Community Health has transitioned children in foster care, children receiving adoption assistance and select youth in the juvenile justice system to a single statewide Care Management Organization (CMO). Amerigroup is the designated statewide CMO responsible for coordinating the care of these children and youth. To help ensure a smooth transition, we would like to share the following information regarding key topics of interest.

Interagency Collaboration

Amerigroup is engaged in the development of collaborative programs, communication and training in conjunction with State child serving agencies to ensure continuity of care in the new program. These agencies include, but are not limited to the Department of Community Health, the Department of Human Services—the Division of Children and Family Services, the Department of Juvenile Justice, the Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Disabilities, the Department of Public Health, the Department of Education and the Department of Early Care and Learning. Amerigroup has also created a steering committee made of stakeholders from the medical field, child welfare, juvenile justice, advocates, and the legal community to shape policy and practice for the new program.
